How To Know When Someone Is Lying To You

ID-10049312Do you know how to spot a liar? Its not just the body language, the nervous giggle, or twitch. A study from UCLA of 60 analysis noticed a few give a ways that are right in front of you if you know what to look for.

If you are a fan of Judge Judy, then you know she always ask the people in her court room to look her straight in the eyes. I wonder if she is on to this method of determining if someone is lying to her or not.

When someone is telling you a story or explaining themselves, someone who is telling the truth will take a longer pause to search their memory for an incidence to be explained. A liar will look away briefly as they have no memory to search for an answer. They are making it up as they go along.

You are being watched

If a liar is talking to you and watching you closely, they are looking for your reaction as they go along, to see if you are falling for their story.

Don’t grill me

Ever seen someone give up explanations before even being asked? They want to avoid being grilled and give excuses up front.

Truthful people talk at the same speed and monotone unless excited about the subject which is obvious. Liar’s start out slow as they are making it up and speed up to finish quickly and end the conversation.

The body language

When someone is lying, their body language will show you. Pressing their lips, curling their hair in their finger, brushing off their clothes and other grooming behaviors are present.

The old what did you say routine

Ask and you shall hear your questions repeated. This gives the liar time to come up with a believable answer.
